Getting historical timeseries FX Rate

I want to get FXRate for a currency to USD for a list of dates. I want the output as a time-series. I can get it currently for a single date using something like this ek.get_data(["GBP="], ['CF_DATE','CF_CLOSE'])

How to convert this into a date range.

You need to use ek.get_timeseries for that such as described here

get_timeseries doesn't return any data, I have tried it several times, it works at times and at times it doesn't not sure why, is there any way using the get_data function?
