Eikon Data API killed by Side by Side API?

I was testing Eikon Data API with a simple Python app (download some data every 2 minutes). Everything run smoothly for 12 hours, but the app stopped working and shows Error Code -1, check if Eikon Desktop or Api proxy is working. Port 9000 on localhost does not show anything in browser. The app stopped working between 2020-08-04 06:15:00 and 2020-08-04 06:20:00. I am sending you 2 available SxS logs from around this time. I could see that the second log was created in exactly this interval (side by side API?), so it might be related?

Thank you :)

    Hi @filip.cermak.2210

SXS API and Eikon Data API can work together.

Here is my sample code which I tested each API simultaneously on multiple times.

And both of them work fine.

Eikon Data API is part of Desktop product so it is designed to require human intervention.

I do not know what KOBRA.APPLICATION.DESKTOPSXS is.

And I am not familiar with the log file.

This forum is about sample code, how to use API.

Please let me know your case number, I tried lookup with your registered email on this portal but I could not see any cases.

I will contact the case owner to get it handled appropriately.

  • Hi @filip.cermak.2210

It could be due to your Eikon Desktop were logged out? or disconnected?

    Is this issue reproducible?

If it is reproducible, you will need to submit a ticket to Refinitiv Helpdesk and ask them to assign the case to the Technical Support team.

The Refinitiv Content Helpdesk can be reached at https://my.refinitiv.com/
Or by calling the Helpdesk number in your country.

  • Eikon desktop was definitely working all the time, as I was using it.

I first wrote to support but they closed my ticket with a message that I should come here.

I think the Data Api was killed by KOBRA.APPLICATION.DESKTOPSXS, does anyone know what process ist this?

  • Or is there any procedure to restart the Eikon Data Api programmatically? My problem is that I would like to daily download som data automatically, but if this keeps happening I simple cannot do that.

  • Thanks for your help Chavalit, I will get back to myrefinitiv. Do you think that an automatic once per day python script update is a use case, that Eikon Data Api should handle? (without going in and fixing stuff, I know about the necessary Sunday shutdown of Eikon, so I count with that)

  • Hi @filip.cermak.2210

Can you share your script to download the data so I can test it on my end too?

Please let me know the ticket number so I can help to ensure that it will get routed to an appropriate technical specialist group.
