ESG data: environmental pillar score and emission score produce zero values

I retrieve time-series ESG data from EIKON API using the get_data function. While overall ESG score (TR.TRESGScore) produces sensible results. Its environmental subpillar (TR.EnvironmentPillarScore) often produces zero value results even though it should be a weighted average of the overall score. The same is true for the emission score (TR.TRESGEmissionsScore). Example RICs are JKHY.O, QRTEA.O, SPLK.O and many more. In addition Total Emission/Sales (TR.AnalyticCO2) often does not change over time (e.g. for same RICs) which does not make sense as at least Sales must change on a yearly basis. Is there a explanation / way to get sensible results

    Find the resolution below:

All ESG scores are system generated without any manual intervention. I have shared the category/pillar weights to replicate the ESG scores, also provided one excel sheet on how this will be calculated.

I have worked on BIDU.O-Software & IT Service company and shared the calculation (Formulas) in the attachment.

Calculation of overall ESG score- ESG scores are aggregated based on the 10 category weights, which are calculated based on the Refinitiv magnitude matrix.

For more details on ESG Score and Pillar score calculation, kindly refer to Page number 12-13 in our methodology document (Link shared below):

We will be glad to set up a call and further discuss your below-mentioned concerns. Our Content Specialist Guruprasad Joshi will be available from 12:00 PM IST to 9:00 PM IST (Indian time). Do let us know your available timings so that we can set up this call.

Also please note, as communicated with you before:

The score calculates over 450 company-level ESG measures, of which we have carefully selected a subset of 186 most comparable and relevant fields to power the overall company assessment and scoring process. The underlying measures are based on considerations around comparability, data availability, and industry relevance.

    Category Benchmarks

    * To calculate the Environmental and Social category scores, as well as the Controversies score, TRBC Industry Group is used as the benchmark as these topics are more relevant and similar to companies within the same industries.
    * To calculate the Governance categories, Country of Headquarters is used as the benchmark as best governance practices are more consistent within countries.

The scores will get impacted due to the above benchmark as and when the companies are uploaded on weekly basis, the new data flows and new scores get generated based on the industry and the country. The historical scores will also get recalculated if any changes are done to the values previously updated from the latest reports.
