What does RIC stand for?

...and where can I find documentation for it?

  • Reuters Instrument Code. TR proprietary and are assigned to any financial or instrument offering from an entity. They are NOT company specific. So, if MSFT issues debt that can be traded, that issuance will get a RIC. Same for stock, credit, etc. All total there are 3 million or so RICs. They typically look something like this ‘ABC.X’ A company can have more than one RIC, but all companies have a primary RIC, which is what should be tagged in the data. RIC codes do not appear in NewsRoom data. They do appear in Financial and Risk (F&R) data. Mapping does exist between RIC codes and OA IDs (and WCA ids). RIC code mappings to OA IDs are to the parrent OA ID.
