Create a Windows 8 VM on the Private Cloud?

Anyone attempt to create a Windows 8 VM in the Private Cloud? How did it go? If successful, any tips on setup? I've heard that it wasn't possible a year ago, but things change so I'm looking for anyone with experience. There appears to be several Cloud solutions. I'm referring to this Cloud:

  • It can be done. If you are creating your own template from an uploaded ISO, be sure to upload the ISO with an OS type of Windows 7 (32-bit) or Windows 7 (64-bit). Then, when you go to create a VM instance from the ISO, the Windows 8 install will act as though an upgrade from Windows 7 is occurring. Be aware that if you are trying to install Windows 8.1, it will not work with the default install, as the network storage used for the VM cannot be seen by the drivers available to the install. A possible work-around is available. See

  • Thanks Michael! I'll try it out.
  • FYI - I heard from the DCO that "Windows 8.1 support will be coming in the latest update from Citrix – this is currently being tested in [the] QA [Private Cloud] environment and [it will] roll out soon."
